Tiempo de papel

PAPER TIME

 At dusk, in the fading light,
 matters begin to fall away,
 the paperwork of business and affairs.

 Documents to be filed,
 briefs, records, digital archives,
 work that never truly ends,
 while time slips from our hands,
 receiving filing after filing without cease,
 more paper drifting through the computer screen.

 Drowning in the digital life that feeds upon us,
 in that tedious labor we repeat again and again,
 waterfalls of documents forever pouring into our inboxes.

 Times of paper, damp with electricity,
 where old formats have become worn relics,
 where everything changes only to remain the same,
 life imprisoned by work,
 so much work and so little living,
 consumed by time,
 for nothingness.

 In my role,
 in this profession,
 which slowly consumes us
 between glowing screens,
 devouring us,
 this digital life,
 this unnatural life.

 Let's step outside,
 life is waiting for us.

TIEMPO DE PAPEL

 En un anochecer, en el atardecer,
 los asuntos se van cayendo,
 papeles de los negocios.
 Documentos a presentar,
 legajos, archivos digitales,
 el trabajo que nunca acaba,
 mientras se nos va el tiempo,
 recibiendo los escritos sin parar,
 más papel, flotando en el ordenador.

 Ahogados en la vida digital que nos come,
 en ese trabajo tedioso, que repetimos sin parar,
 cataratas que nunca acaban de entrar en las bandejas.

 Tiempos de papel, que se humedecen eléctricos,
 donde ya los formatos son una reliquia vieja,
 donde todo cambia para ser lo mismo,
 la vida atrapada en el trabajo,
 tanto trabajo para no vivir,
 comidos en el tiempo,
 para la nada.

 En mi papel,
 en ese oficio,
 que consume
 entre pantallas,
 devorándonos,
 esa vida digital,
 antinatural vida.

Salgamos a la calle, 
que la vida nos espera.
