La Sincera Amistad

Alexandra I

I savor friendship, the kind that stumbles upon unexpectedly, that is born simply
in simple words but that embraces and deepens with actions
, that matures over time, sweet as fruit at its best,
firm as the hand that extends to support you, that shelters,
addictive as chocolate that melts in the mouth.

The friendship that brightens my morning like a warm ray of sunshine,
that grows stronger as the day dawns, that stands at midday
singing its joy, friendship that is a smile, a fresh breeze,
a laugh that contains no mockery, only happiness, the joy of existing
that sings to the wind and to life.

I adore the friendship that is a dove on my shoulder, an embrace,
tender and powerful arms, a shield in adversity,
a chest that accompanies my chest in sadness, in the loneliness
that is a true tear when mine rolls downhill,
that friendship, which is more than love, or is a strange love,
that gives itself and does not ask, because it has everything of me.

I love you, my friend, more than anything, for your strength,
your durability, because you don't change your ways,
the doors of my heart are open to yours,
because I can trust you, because of your discretion
you respect my space and I yours, without exception
because among love, that selfish love,
often harassing, that in the name of love mistreats,
abusive, deceitful, that oppresses, that lies maliciously,
you shine with your own light, you don't need reflections.

I simply love you, my friend, and I belong to you.
You know my flaws and you don't keep quiet; you point them out to my face,
even though you can hurt with the most brutal frankness.
Between you and me, without any other witnesses,
come, my friend, because you will always have a special place,
and that's what you're called: sincere friendship, half
of my heart, my faithful confidant, my whole soul.
