PARANOIA

Diana_Carolina

Lights flicker in the room, blending with outsider black snow

Noises knocking in the window--is it the wind's blow or a crow?

A blizzard piles outside the door, as the hysteria grows and grows

The bed's made a creak sound; something above, something below?

Steaming mug cupped in fingers is a high, so liberating

Still the suspicion Jeeters and grinds teeth, as more Things're being eliminated

The shadows' hoax is exhilarating, irritating, unwilling to liberate it

Of the creatures in the dark corners, that patiently have been awaiting.

What of the hoarse whispers, scratching the trees' core?

Pounding the door's knob, gouging under the floor

The shudder in my hands' not enough--pour me more, pour me more

Until my body shuts down and perceive, I can't do anymore.

And once the lights turn normal, what shall be behind my back?

There's no sound left to hear, what if it's hiding in the shack?

Waiting to pounce an attack, nails digging anxiously its bag

Till all is over and done with, and my vision has turned all black.

Whatsoever lies inside or out, my alertness will not take the risk

My stomach churns aghast and sick, yet my feet are ever so quick

'Here lies the neighbors' worry' I'll say, as they're all dragged in their sleep

If I survive to tell the tale, that I got the best of paranoia, or paranoia, got the best of me.
